How to Order Personalized Items.

Hello, all. I want to take a moment to talk about customized and personalized items.

When you order an item that is custom-made for you or as a gift, please, BE SPECIFIC. You see, I am not currently able to read minds. It would be really cool if I could, but I can’t. Sorry.

So I can’t tell precisely what you want without you telling me. Let’s use an example:

Let’s say you are ordering a Fourth Corner piece for your niece’s birthday. Let’s call her Lucy. Lucy loves horses, reading, daisies, and the color yellow.

So, you think to yourself, “Say, since I am such a cool, fun aunt, I am going to buy her something from Silhouette Noir- you know, like the cool kids do. I want it in the style of “You’ve Been Framed”, and in the frame there will be her name in yellow, with a horse shoe as the “u”, and a daisy at the top.”

But then, when you order it, you just say “Frame. Lucy. Horses. Flower. Shoes”. I’m not going to know what in the name of God you are talking about. I’m probably going to put the name Lucy, and then draw a horse, and a rose, and then like a strappy heel, or something. Again, I can’t read minds.

Now, we should both bear in mind that these pictures are, in fact, art. And as an artist, I will take a few liberties, but I will always adhere as best I can to the request. If you’re just trying to give me artistic freedom, that’s really cool, but I really want to make the piece that you want. To do that, I need to know what you want.

So in conclusion, and I literally cannot stress this enough, BE SPECIFIC WHEN PLACING A PERSONALIZED ORDER. Thank you.

~Love, Silhouette.
