Cyber Monday.
Happy cyber monday! Happy shopping everyone! Remember that I have some raffles going on (see previous post). Happy holidays!
Silhouette Noir Raffle(s)!
Hey guys! I just wanted to let you all know about our cool raffle. Whenever you place an order from Silhouette Noir, you automatically get entered into our raffle. You get the chance to win awesome prizes and such. Check it out:
-How it Works:
Basically, whenever you place an order, you get a card with your package. Each card has a different number on it, and every other month, I will announce a winning number. Whoever has the card with that number wins the prize.
If your ticket wins, Silhouette Noir will contact you with whatever information you have provided and is deemed fit to use. This includes, but is not limited to; email, Etsy account, facebook account, Twitter account, phone, or snail mail. This contact is just for your benefit and you are not required to respond. All you need to do is wait for your package to arrive.
All guidelines and rules can be changed by Silhouette Noir at any time for any reason.
-Specific to this first raffle drawing:
I want the winner of this first raffle to get their prize by Christmas, but I also want to give people plenty of time to place their orders. So, I have decided that people have from now until 12:01 p.m. on December 20th, 2013 to place eligible orders. However, please note that orders placed after this time will still be eligible for the next raffle. After the time period ends on the 20th, I will pick one raffle ticket at random. I will contact the winner and send their package the next business day. Now, if one of my lovely foreign customers wins, then your winning package may not arrive in time for Christmas, but I don’t want to push the date any earlier as I want to give people a fair amount of time to join in the raffle. I apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding.
-The OTHER Raffle:
That’s right, I love you all so very much, that (for just this month) I am having a second raffle! And this one doesn’t even require purchase! All you have to do is;
1. Go onto my facebook or twitter page, and like or follow me, respectively.
2. For facebook, send me a message with the subject line “Social Network Raffle”, as well as your e-mail address.
3. For twitter, send me a tweet with your e-mail address in it.
4. You can do both 2 & 3 to enter the drawing twice!
5. At 12:01 p.m. on December 20th, I will choose one winner at random. I will then e-mail them about their winning and ask for some basic shipping info. They will then have exactly one week to respond to that e-mail. If they don’t respond then they relinquish their winnings.
-Prizes: -Prizes:
Now for the fun part. The swag.
-Basic Raffle Prize:
Winner will receive one A Thousand Canvases piece (Just a Portion, in blue. Picture below shows it in green). Prize will be shipped using Express Shipping.
(Est. value ~$60)
-Social Network Raffle Prize:
Winner will receive one black T-Shirt Pillow (Picture below shows different colors). Piece will be shipped using Express Shipping. (Est. value ~$55)
Well, guys, I hope you enjoy these raffles! Good luck, and happy holidays!

Dragons; An Unnecassary Tale.
My Shop!
I have been working on the upcoming DragonsBlood line, and at some point, I wrote the following. I decided it was too long to put in the product descriptions, but I figured I'd post it here, as some of you may find it entertaining.
For those of you that don't find it entertaining, here's a sneak peek at one of the new garments!
Dragons; An unnecessary tale:
Many eons ago, dragons roamed the earth. (EDITORIAL DISCLAIMER: Seriously?) Don’t start with me. I’ve seen proof. (ED: Was it “proof”? Are you sure it wasn’t “nothing”?) Yes, I’m sure! Their bones are in museums and everything! (E.D.: Those are dinosaurs. You’re thinking of dinosaurs.) Oh. Yeah, that makes more sense.
Many eons ago, dragons didn’t roam the earth, but if they were real they would have! (E.D.: Let’s just let her have this one.) They would have lived in caves and hoarded diamonds and gold. Their flamey-breath-flames would have burned entire villages to ground, leaving nothing but decrepit, singed remains of former glory. Their shadowy silhouettes could be seen gliding across mountaintops as they flew above, soaring with unparalleled grace and elegance and poise. Their stunning wings would shimmer in the light, and their eyes would strike an unmatched fear in those plucky enough to look them in the eye (E.D.: I like to think she’s going somewhere here…). They would have sparred each other in kung-fu to see who the strongest among them was, to see who among them was to be their ruler! (E.D.: I don’t think dragons could perform any kind of martial arts…)
And, time after time, one dragon reigned supreme. (E.D.: When did this stop being hypothetical?) Her name is Oblirrian (E.D.: What?) and she has more strength and intellect than all other dragons combined! (E.D.: How is this present-tense now?) A drop of her blood is in each of these garments (E.D.: That sounds so unsanitary. You guys know that’s not true, right?) and with her blood guarding you, you are safe from all misfortune, and gory and riches shall find their way to you! (E.D.: Not even close. Not even close.)
…Please buy some clothes…

Verbatim Art pieces.
The Verbatim Art pieces are similar to my Fourth Corner pieces in that they are highly customizable. You can choose what words to put on it, as well as the colors. (please not, however, that all of them will have some gold on it) So, as I said with the other ones, BE SPECIFIC.
Also, please note that each piece is of a finite space, and I can fit so much on them. If you tell me you want a certain song on there, that doesn’t mean that the entire song will make it on there. If you look at the example ones I put up on etsy, you can see that there are only a few lines from each song on it. So if there are certain lines you want on it, feel free to ask. I won’t be mad at you for getting too specific.
For example, here are some good and bad orders:
Bad: Muzac. Carrie. Good stuff, no crap. #Yolo.
Good: I want it to be Carrie Underwood lyrics. Especially Blown Away and Two Black Cadillac’s. Not Good Girl. Also, put on the chorus to Taylor Swift’s Teardrops On My Guitar. Color- Green, Yellow.
Bad: RAYVEN, CASKAMONTILADO.
Good: Edgar Allen Poe- The Raven, The Cask of Amontillado. Endings in particular. Black and White. Thanks.
Bad: :-) BD thrrouuu quotezzz nd wnnehouse. Thnx. XD
Good: Henry David Thoreau Quotes and lyrics from Amy Winehouse. thnx. :-) Cranberry-Black. :)
Bad: Surprise me!
(Seriously, guys, don’t make me surprise you. I can’t read minds. I may accidentally send you, like your least favorite song lyrics or something. I don’t like surprising people.)
Remember, if you have any questions or requests, you can always send me a convo on etsy or e-mail me!

A Thousand Canvases
Hello guys! I have news! I have already shown you guys my clothing, and the Fourth Corner pieces. But I have a new brand of art pieces:
A Thousand Canvases
(Sounds pretty badass, right?) They are going to be released with the clothing lines, and if the clothing line has a specific theme, then the paintings might as well. For the Silhouette Signature line, I have 5 paintings. There are four smaller ones, named Just A Portion, The Palette, The Kiss, and Perfect Weather. (Clockwise from top left)
There is also one bigger one, named Eyes of Green.
My work is mostly abstract impressionist, but I like to root it in realist material. I’m still finding my artistic signature, so I’ll be experimenting and figuring things out.
The pieces are technically made to order, but they are NOT customizable. When you order a piece, it will be almost identical to the one you see in the picture. I had considered doing them as prints, but I wanted to make it a little more interesting, so it’s like a handmade print on a canvas.
Also, these pieces are all closely related. For example, Just A Portion and Perfect Weather were made using the same palate. And The Palate was used as the actual palate for The Kiss. And, if you look very closely, you can see paint splatters on all of them, as I set the other three around The Kiss when I put the paint splatters on.
You can find them all at my etsy store soon. Enjoy!

Packaging pic.
Hello, all. Just because I love you all so very much, I am giving you a sneak peek at some of the cute packaging we use here at Silhouette Noir. Just like our products, no two gift boxes are the same. This one of the smaller ones. Sometimes we use wodden boxes or wicker baskets, I like to mix it up.

How to Order Personalized Items.
Hello, all. I want to take a moment to talk about customized and personalized items.
When you order an item that is custom-made for you or as a gift, please, BE SPECIFIC. You see, I am not currently able to read minds. It would be really cool if I could, but I can’t. Sorry.
So I can’t tell precisely what you want without you telling me. Let’s use an example:
Let’s say you are ordering a Fourth Corner piece for your niece’s birthday. Let’s call her Lucy. Lucy loves horses, reading, daisies, and the color yellow.
So, you think to yourself, “Say, since I am such a cool, fun aunt, I am going to buy her something from Silhouette Noir- you know, like the cool kids do. I want it in the style of “You’ve Been Framed”, and in the frame there will be her name in yellow, with a horse shoe as the “u”, and a daisy at the top.”
But then, when you order it, you just say “Frame. Lucy. Horses. Flower. Shoes”. I’m not going to know what in the name of God you are talking about. I’m probably going to put the name Lucy, and then draw a horse, and a rose, and then like a strappy heel, or something. Again, I can’t read minds.
Now, we should both bear in mind that these pictures are, in fact, art. And as an artist, I will take a few liberties, but I will always adhere as best I can to the request. If you’re just trying to give me artistic freedom, that’s really cool, but I really want to make the piece that you want. To do that, I need to know what you want.
So in conclusion, and I literally cannot stress this enough, BE SPECIFIC WHEN PLACING A PERSONALIZED ORDER. Thank you.

The Fourth Corner Pieces and Opening! The Fourth Corner Pieces.
Hello, all! I come bearing big news! First off, I mentioned in the previous post that I was going to incorporate art into my store. Well, I can now announce that they will be called the Forth Corners. The pieces are made from upcycled book pages, and the corners of each one are made to line up with each other, so you can create interesting patterns by combining different pieces.
I am only releasing 4 pieces to start off; The Four Corners, Silhouette Signature Gold Edition. The pieces are usually $18.00 each, but the Silhouette Signature Gold Editions ones are $12.00.
(Unfortunately, I already sold one of them (pictured in the bottom left corner), but you guys can special order one just like it, or with whatever variation on it you want.)
Now, while I am only releasing 4 to start with, I am happy to take requests. You can order a piece to be made in any of the four styles, and can have any variations you want. Feel free to get as creative with it as you want.
My second, and biggest, announcement is that the store is going to be open by this Wednesday! Yay! The link will be posted here. Just so you know, it is going to be on etsy.com.

I am now also going to be selling sketches and paintings. Exciting! I have a really cool idea for them, but I have a little more work to do before I can reveal it. I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, keep checking here because the store will be popping up any day now! Yay!

Sneak Peek
Hello all! So, I’ve been very busy. Between sewing, designing, figuring out the legal and financial stuff, deciding how to set up the store, and being lazy, I haven’t been able to update of late. I’m sorry. I’ve missed you too.
But I’m here now. And with news! The store should be up and running within a fortnight! That’s right, not only are we about to start up Silhouette Noir, but I used the word “fortnight”! Yay!
Unfortunately for you all, I already sold one of the best pieces, Blazer Ablaze. Sorry, guys. This stuff goes fast.
I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on things more often. Check out my Google Plus account to see a sneak peek photo of some of the upcoming products. I wanted to post it on Twitter too, but my computer is being fickle. We'll see how it works out, but hopefully, you guys will be able to see some cool stuff on Twitter soon.

Signature Collection Inspiration Board.
I told you I'd be posting again soon.
I have found that the most important part of art is the inspiration process. In fact, it is not only the most important, but the most interesting. So I have decided to share with my magnificent readers my inspiration. I have compiled some pictures that are inspiring my very first collection; The Silhouette Signature Collection, coming soon.
Every collection that I release will have a specific theme. Here are some of the ones you can look forward to at some point:
-Roar, inspired by the Roaring 20's.
-Dragonsblood, inspired by Aisian fashions.
-Once Upon A Time, inspired by fairy tales.
-Feather and Lace, inspired by my experimentation with texture.
-The Stag Named Actaeon, inspired by Greek Mythology.
It's mostly (if not all) Alexander McQueen stuff. He's my all-time favorite designer, so I guess it makes sense. Anyway, here's some of the things that get my creative-gears in motion.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Silhouette Noir
Well, I know you've been waiting quite some time now, but it's officially time. Silhouette Noir is starting. I even have a twitter account! (You know it's gettin serious when Twitter's involved!)
In the next week, you're gonna see a whole lot of change. For example, an actual article! You know, the ones I kept saying were gonna be here? Now they actually will be. And pretty soon the store will be up and running.
For right now, though, go follow me on Twitter ( @SilhouetteNoir ) to get info on upcoming sales and other thoughts that pass through my mind. Enjoy, guys, and you'll be hearing from me again very, very soon.
Love, Silhouette.
P.S.- Oh! And I'm still working on the logo, but since I just love you all so very much, here's a sneak peek at what I've been working on. Those silhouettes and streetlight aren't mine, I got them from Google. Don't sue.

Hey guys! If this looks weird, it's because I'm experimenting with layout, templates, and styles. This blog may change appearence a lot in the coming days. Sorry for any confusion.

How Silhouette Noir came about.
Once upon a time, a really carzy person made a store. But that's not very eloquent. Here's a presentation about it. I will probably be using Prezi as a way to show my lines too, so get used to it.

Here it is!
It's one of the two there. I'm not sure which will be better. I'm still figuring this all out.
I mostly made this to experiment with using Prezi, but hey, if you find it interesting, then awesome.

Silhouette Noir is going to be an online boutique where you can buuy glamorous, eco-friendly, recycled, one-of-a-kind clothing. It's the beginging of my Silhouette Project, where I alter, reuse, and completely change clothed found in vintage shops and sell them. Each article of clothing is unique, handmade, and soaked in history.
